Sant Singh Ji Maskeen is telling us about Waheguru Simran, how to do it, what are various stages, what are the benefits.  The Gurusikh who posted it on YouTube has added some beautiful photographs behind.

I would appreciate if anyone can take time to translate it into English so that we can post the transcript here.

    Sorry for late reply. We are also planning to make a separate section devoted to Sant Singh Ji Maskeen. There are some books written by him. Recently I found one book “Jap Dhara” about Jap Ji Sahib. This is wonderful book. Stay in touch with Waheguru Simran and we will post some more material soon. There is very good book on Naam Simran by Raghbir SinghJi Beer “Simran Mehma”. Meantime, you can read that too. Simran is more a subject of doing than reading. Reading is importat for getting started but after practice you yourself learn new things everyday. You can subscribe to our email digest at Waheguru Simran home page.

    Thx for your reply. But i want to kno that, is 1 hour sufficient for naam simran , like i am a beginner, Or i should devote some more time. bcuz in the first few days i enjoyed doing it, but now the time i am unable to concentrate or focus in naam simran. Please help me about this.

    1 hour practice is enough. If you have got time, you can do path before Simran. The trick is just keep doing it. If you don’t enjoy Simran, switch to chanting of Mool Mantra or any other line from Gurbani. Also keep doing Gurbani path. You can read path in your head but better do it with your tongue. I usually receive emails from Gursikhs like you. Please find extract of such email below. It may be helpful to you as well.

    Answers to your questions
    1.PLEASE LET ME KNOW HOW TO DO THE SIMRAN AND HOW TO DO IN A PROPER WAY
    I regularly post stuff about Waheguru Simran and refer to external sources as well. Some most important thing is that you practice it. Simran is more a subject of doing than discussing. You can divide it into 80-20. 80% is doing and 20% is reading/listening about techniques/Katha. When you do Simran, keep your speed slow. During the process of doing Simran, it will become loud and fast. Don’t worry if its fast. Don’t think that if you are doing it fast and loud, you are not showing any respect to it. This is normal. LISTEN. LISTENING IS VERY IMPORTANT. JUST FOCUS ON YOUR VOICE. ALSO LISTEN TO YOUR VOICE INSIDE IE. IN YOUR LUNGS.

    Keep your feeling in control ie when you are doing Simran and all other times. Especially, you should control your anger and sexual feelings. Keep yourself cool. There is no limit on doing Sex, if you are married, but excessive feeling is not good. This just not mean that you should not love your wife or spend time with her. When its time for Sex, enjoy it- Don’t worry, you won’t lose your Simran wealth with this. If you have satisfied Sexual life, you will be good at Simran. Thats why Guru Nanak gave us concept of Marriage.

    Ignore small things to keep control over anger. Focus on your breath.

    Don’t think about other people. Don’t think that they are not doing Simran. Don’t criticize anybody. Thank God that He has given you Sikhi.

    2. SO THAT WE WILL BE ABLE TO REACH DASAM DAWAR

    Dasam Duar is like upper floor. Dasam Duar is on the top of our head. When you listen to your voice, your Surat (Attention) start going upwards. You will know yourself.

    Likewise, listen to Gurbani when you do path. Keep doing Path and WaheguruSimran, you will reach stage of Dasam Duar as well. You don’t have to do special efforts to reach there.

    I also wanted to pass on something I learned recently about the way our minds work. I’ve been practicing the Mool Mantar in Gurmukhi chant. I noticed that I had trouble remembering the lines. I wrote everything out phonetically, the way I heard them and this made it easier. By the second night, I woke from sleep to hear the chant recited perfectly by my unconscious mind. Next morning, I still couldn’t consciously remember the whole shabad, BUT I knew that my inner self remembered it fully.

    Like the favourite songs we hear on the radio that stay with us all day, if we expose ourselves frequently to the chanted shabads, we do remember Waheguru 24 hours a day. This actually rewires the neurons in our brains and changes the chemistry of our bodies.

    Repetition is key to progress and we needn’t be too hard on ourselves if it looks like we aren’t learning fast enough. We are. It’s just that the subconscious mind – the intuitive part – is a quicker study than the conscious mind, which has to deal with the thousands of bits of information we get from our environment every day.

    Even greater than repetition is desire, your personal will to align with Waheguru’s. To cultivate that, I recommend doing vichar on the complexity of created forms . . . the world of forms is woven from the simplicity of just the Naad . . . sound vibration. If you need to be convince of this fact, study Quantum Physics.

    When you grasp the fact that creation is an illusion held together by prana, you will be jivan-mukta. Obeying the Hukam of His Command intuitively and living the Mool Mantar will be the only Truth that is signicant to you. At that point fortune and adversity become equally acceptable in your life, because both are lessons from Waheguru, the Wonderous Teacher.

    i will surely call you davinder singh ji…. And m sory for this long delay..i have visited this page after a long time, now the time i am not doing naam simran..i dont kno y but i have lost all the strength and guru’s kirpa. now it seems impossible to wake up at amritwela. i dont kno wat to do, i am really very sad.
    may be these are my sins, my dirty mind, becoz of which i have lost my guru’s grace.

    ya ofcourse ,,,what should i do for guru’s kirpa. i want to do naam simran but i am unable to do so. i am not utilizing amritwela. i dont kno what to do .. please pray for me. Please tell me if you have any solution.

    One word answer to your problem is “NITNEM”. Do path of Nitnem Bani’s once a day whatever time is convenient to you. If we miss any Bani of Nitnem, we don’t get 100% kirpa of Waheguru. It takes 70 minutes to do 5 Bani’s path while reading with mouth and 35 min if you do in mind. Just do it at normal speed – neither too fast nor too slow.

    Nitnem will benefit you as follows :-
    It will bring back Naam Ras and adolta (stability of mind)
    It will keep you in Simran whole day.
    It will give you Simran with every breath.
    If you have choice between doing Nitnem and Simran, choose Nitnem.

    Please start by doing path of one Bani first eg. Jap Ji Sahib. When you perfect it, then you can recite it in your mind which will give you more pleasure and save your time. Now do this for other Bani’s.
